5 1/4" floppy drives

Do new mobo bioses still support 5 1/4"? Someone I know wants a new
computer for home, but wants the old drive so he can slowly transfer his
old stuff, rather than do it all at once before getting the new machine.
In the past couple of years I only tried this once, on a Compaq, and it
didn't recognize the drive, but that's Compaq.

Don't expect full support from XP for 5.25" FDs. IIRC, XP will
read oldies, maybe write 'em, but won't format 'em.

Most computers should support it, but be aware that some newer chipsets
only support ONE floppy drive. If possible, check the BIOS screens of the
computer. If you know what machine it will be, post here to see if
somebody has the same thing and they can check the BIOS settings for
support.
