4x6 IE Windows

U

Uncle Joe

Running Win XP (Home) SP2 with 1.6 GHz P4 CPU
and 1 GB RAM. Outlook Express is OE6 SP2 and IE6
is SP2.

Whenever I click on a link in OE6 (say, as provided in
this newsgroup), IE6 opens the new link in a 4x6 window,
forcing me to maximize the window to read its contents.
Don't know where this tiny window effect is coming from.
It's very annoying.

When launched as stand-alone app, IE6 maximizes new
windows fully as it always has.

Any ideas? TIA.

Windows remembers the size of the last Normal IE window closed.
Open such a link.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.

If that doesn't do it try the REG file here:

Clicked a link within and the infamous 4x6 IE6 window opened. Dragged
its corners to fill the screen as you suggested. That resolved the
problem.
Clicks on additional links brought up normal-sized IE6 windows.
Thanks!
It still puzzles me as to why this suddenly began but I'm not about to
lose
sleep over it.

Most likely you left a site that left a popup or a popunder on your
desktop. When you closed the window you were using, that smaller window was
there and became "the last secondary window opened." IE remembered its
size as Frank explained in his post.

Been there, done that-
