4 bit resolution display on monitor

N

nhabecker

My screen went black when booting up.
I unpluged computer to turn off computer.
Restarting computer I got a message that
I could restart XP at the last good
configeration. The system rebooted with
the message
"Error Loading C;\winnt\system32\NvCpl.dll
A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization failed"

At the bottom of the screen I get a balloon
saying that my resolution is set very low, but
I am unable to change resolution.
When I go to settings I can't change any.
Currently it tells me I have 4 bit resolution.

My screen images are very poor.

Can you help?
Many thanks,
Nelson

the nvcpl.dll is an Antivirus DLL. You should probably
re-install your A/V program.

First, unplugging your computer while it's booting is a bad idea. If you had
corrupted system files, you'd be in worse shape.

Second, that's part of your video driver, if you're using an Nvidia card.
Reinstall the video drivers, in any case.
