4.7 and 6.0

TheShiznit!

I had MSN Messenger 4.7, then installed the 6.0 version.

Now, I have 2 versions on my machine. How do I completely get rid of 4.7
version and keep only 6.0????

Greetings,

MSN Messenger 6 does not replace Windows Messenger 4.7 (they are separate, different
products). You can remove Windows Messenger 4.7, but if you do, you will be preventing
Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, Application Sharing and any other applications that utilize
Messenger from working (or loading without problems). You can just disable Windows Messenger
4.7, by opening it up, click Tools, Options, Preferences tab and unchecking 'Run this program
when Windows starts'. This won't stop it from being loaded by some other application though.
As well, you can disable it further by going to Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs,
Add/Remove Windows Components on the left, uncheck Windows Messenger in the components list
and click Next >. Note: this is only available if you've installed Windows XP Service Pack
1 -- if you haven't, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This won't remove Windows
Messenger, but it will let it stay out of your way, and allow MSN Messenger 6 to work
properly.

For me, I took Jonathan advise to prevent it from AutoStart since I need
other services.

But If you DIDN"T NEED THEM ALL (MSN 4.7 plus Remote Assistance, Whiteboard,
Application Sharing, Exchange Messaing and any other applications that
utilize Messenger), you can turn it OFF permanently by doing this:

Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then press ENTER.
Double-click the following items to expand them:

Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates >
Windows Components > Windows Messenger

Double-click Do not allow Windows Messenger to run, and then click Enabled.
Click OK, and then quit the Group Policy snap-in.

That's fine, but can I then get MSN Messenger to interact
with Outlook Express?
