I'd appreciate any ideas on this issue. We have a
win2k/exchange server where the boot process takes
anywhere from 25 to 40 minutes. It sits in the win2k
logo screen with the starting Windows progress bar at
about 70%. At the end of this protracted time, the
desktop comes up very slowly, blank screen for awhile,
then the icons gradually appear. Due to some site
transition issues, right now this server is running
Exchange 2000, GFI MailEssentials and Symantec Enterprise
Anti-virus. It is also the only DNS server for the
moment. The site has 2 domains, the PDC is NT4. The
exchange server is in a second domain. Clients are all
XP. The server booted in "normal" time in this
environment until recently. We had installed SP4, but
removed it due to other issues.
Thanks for all suggestions and ideas.
