Kids never cease to amaze me - but I'm wondering if its entirely true, or if the parents are just using it as an excuse to retract their bid ;)

Hard to say though.
At three years old my daughter was reading encyclopedias & novels for entertainment.
She could've done something like that as easy as breathing.
But then, she'd also have understood the consequences of what she was doing as well & would've been unlikely do actually do it.
No, I'm not exaggerating.
