3.5" disk drive won't work

Everytime i put the disk in the disk drive it says the
disk needs to be formatted and then it says windows
cannot format the disk. Anybody have any suggestions???

Try another disk. If it does the same thing, you may have a bad drive. They
range from $7 to $15.

Before you go replacing drives, XP no longer supports "3-mode" floppies,
which causes this error message occasionally.
If you format the floppy on a non-XP machine, then try it again, it usually
works.
