2nd SATA drive

I have a 160 GB SATA with C and D on it. The D is a DISE backup that is on
the disk from manufacture. I do not have an install CD, only recovery. I have
a 300 GB SATA that I'd like to use to make a clone of the original drive of C
and D. I want to be able to boot from it if the original Maxtor dies. It too
is a Maxtor and uses the Maxblast 4 CD for installation.

Can I do this? Can I have a 2nd drive that is a clone of the original
present and connected?

I have an E DVD and F DVD drive in the machine.
I'm open to suggestions if they're easy to understand and perform. I
probably am thinking about this wrong, so steer me.

Do you have more than one SATA connector??
If the answer is yes hook the new drive up to SATA connector #2
And clone your old HD to your new HD.......this makes an exact bootable
clone!!
Most retail HD come with software to do this...if not their website has the
software available.
Or you can buy Acronis True Image which is capable of this and more
