2nd post - simple file sharing

Hi- I'm going to try this one more time- any ideas???

I am using MSBA to scan our network PCs - and need to have Simple File
Sharing turned off in order to do that. I have some PCs that are not
holding the setting. I will go in and uncheck it, but as soon as I close and
reopen it, the option is still checked. Could something else be over-riding
this? any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,

You could try changing the registry to see if that works better.

Run regedit and browse to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
double click the forceguest line in the right hand column and set it to 0

Hope this helps! (If not are all the PCs XP Pro?)

http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBO/tip7200/rh7286.htm gives you a script to do this
remotely.

Do these machine by any chance have XP Home on them? That does not
provide for turning off Simple File Sharing (though I think the check
box is still there)

If it is Pro, run gpedit.msc and search in the User rights section to
see if there is one related to this point
