When I try to play a game and I insert the DVD-rom, my computer doesn't
even recognize it. It's like I didn't even put a disk in there. How
can I fix this problem?

Try inserting a different DVD and also try a CD. Is either recognized?

If not, use a cleaning CD/DVD in the drive ($5-$10 at Best Buy).

If that doesn't help, you probably need to replace the drive - a new
double-layer DVD burner costs around $40 here:

I have no affiliation with Newegg.com but I purchase a ton of parts from
them. They are reliable and usually have the best on-line prices.

If you can open your computer you can probably replace the bad drive
yourself. Just install the new one into the hole where you removed the
bad one.
