2000 pro crashes when pluging a usb storage device

When pluging in a USB drive or compact flash reader the
system crashe. Also can not add 2nd hard drive to the
computer. System crashes shortly after the windows loads
and the desktop apperars on the screen. Can anyone help?
Am I in the correct catagory for windows 2000?

Don,

that may be a USB support problem. I've encountered something similar
on a PC with an early USB 2.0 implementation. Look for updates at
your computer supplier/manufacturer.
