Being the novice that I am, I have installed Windows XP
twice, and created a 'partition?'. How do I uninstall the
latter version I installed?

DUAL BOOT REMOVAL ==========================2 instances of
XP==========================
Control Panel > System > Advanced > Start-up and Recovery Settings > Edit.
Carefully remove the
2nd reference to your non-existent installation.

Assuming you are running XP on C: and do not have a second O/S installed,
you
should carefully edit your "boot.ini file". It should look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home"
/fastdetect

P.S. DO NOT EDIT-OUT OR REMOVE THE FIRST REFERENCE TO WINDOWS XP OR YOUR
COMPUTER WILL FAIL TO BOOT!
After you have done this and restart from within XP/control panel/admin
tools/computer management
format that 2nd copy of XP out of existence

Hi Chris,

Boot the one you do want., open Windows Explorer and delete the system
folders for the one that you do not want.

Then, start/run C:\boot.ini

Remove the line referencing the unwanted system from the [operating systems]
section.
