2 versions running

I just downloaded the latest messenger version, but the old 4.7 still keeps running, and you can not even see it connecting. Please what can I do to deinstall, because this program does not show this messenger version. Thanks
 
Does the new version show up? If you have XP (and it appears you do)
and you download MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger stays installed. You
can't uninstall Windows Messenger because that removes functionality
from MSN Messenger. If you still want to remove Windows Messenger, then

1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Add or Remove Programs in classic Control Panel
3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components
4. Uncheck Windows Messenger
5. Finish in the wizard
6. A reboot may be required
