Since I can't "revert to the old style of MS Word", can I install an
older version in addition to Word 2007 on a Vista system?

Thanks,
Andy

Let's see, you asked a question about Word running on Windows Vista in a
newsgroup for general questions about Windows XP. Don't you think you
might have tried to find a Word newsgroup or even a Vista newsgroup?

microsoft.public.word.docmanagement
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general

Or you could always try the good old MSKB search tool:
http://support.microsoft.com/search/

....which gives this answer:
"Information about using 2007 Office suites and programs on a computer
that is running another version of Office"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928091/

Install the http://www.Openoffice.org software, or just the Writer. You
can set it to save all documents in your preferred Word format. Click
Tools, Options, Load/Save, General, "Always save as" "Microsoft Word
97/2000/XP". There are other options that might get the behavior you
prefer too.

Yes you can. However, the appropriate newsgroup would be for one of office
or word.

Since I can't "revert to the old style of MS Word",

Exactly what do you mean by that? Do you mean that you are creating
..docx files, and can't create .doc files?

Yes, you certainly can. Do a "Save as" and select "Word 97-1003
document."

In the future, please ask Word questions in a Word newsgroup, rather
than here in a Windows XP one. You are far more likely to get the help
you need if you ask in the right place, where the experts in that
technology hang out.

Except that Word 1003 will save all documents in Old English.

LOL! Yes, it probably would if Word 1003 had ever existed.

OK, you caught me in a typo. Yes, that should be "2003," not "1003."

Read all my messages here; you'll probably catch me in lots of typos;
I'm a poor typist and unfortunately prone to making typos.

I don't care for the "ribbon toolbar."
It's like a 3-legged turtle. :)

yes.

both versions will work side by
side.

just be sure to install the older
version in a folder like office03

because the installation may
try to overwrite your 07
installation.

Yes, it's 130 MB if you install all six components.
