2 questions - restarting computer and pointer size

Using Windows XP Pro, recently I have had some problems trying to get the
notebook to "stand-by", shutdown and restart. Nothing seems to happen on some
occasions. A few days ago I uninstalled Norton anti-virus and install
ZoneAlarmPro on trial basis - not sure if this would contribute to the
problem or not.

Any help?

My other questions concerns the size of pointer. I want to use a magnifier
pointer as shown on the Mouse-COntrol Panel. However, when I shut down and
boot up later, the default small pointer shows. The magnifier pointer doesn't
seem to stick. How can I get it to overide the default?

Thanks. Norm.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I have clicked Apply most every time and then
OK. The changed pointer is there (forgot to mention this) when I first boot
up but when I log into my section, it goes to the small pointer default. I
set the pointer while I'm in my log in section. This is a stand alone
notebook and I, of course, am the administrator.
