I just want to make sure this will work before setting it up. PC with
W2000, can I have one nic with DHCP attatched to DSL router for internet, and
a second nic with a static IP connected directly to a print server with a
crossover cable.. ??

Of course it will work, depending of course on what you define as
working. You can have 2 NIC's one static and one DHCP the computer will
continue to work. You will have internet and the ability to print.

The problem frequently is that the user has incorrectly defined the task
at hand, so then has the problem of actually telling folks "What must
work without problem!" :)

As long as they aren't the same subnet, and the only one with a Default
Gateway is the one connected to the DSL Device you are alright. The nic
connected to the printer server must have a blank Default Gateway and be a
different subnet than the other Nic. You would be miles ahead if you place
a cheap Hub or Switch between the machine and the print server and connect
with a pair of standard cables.
