I have a windows 2000 DC and it is also a DNS server.I have two NICs on that server. I would like only one NIC to be registered in the DNS in "same as parent folder", and "A" records. On the second NIC i have unchecked "register this connection's address in the DNS" ,but it still registering in the DNS.Can somebody tell me how do i register only one NIC.

thanks in advance.

This behavior is by design. A DC will register all addresses in DNS. There are a few ways around this. One way would be to configure the DNS service to
listen on only the adapter that you want registered. Then delete all the entries for the second address. The DC will only have the one address registered now.
The only problem with this method is that if the second adapters address will be used to resolve DNS names. For instance, if the second adapter is an
external adapter and you are hosting a DNS domain name on your DNS server clients on the Internet would not be able to resolve records in your domain.

The second method would be to turn off registration altogether and manually add the records. For more info on this refer to: 246804 How to Enable/Disable
