Multiple NICS

Hi there,
- Does anyone know if is there a way of a multihomed server register a NIC
per DNS zone? Because on one the Nic I'm using the "Use this connection's
DNS suffix in DNS registration" to create the A record on the second zone
but automatically DNS creates an A record also on the primary zone.

- I'd also like to ask if anyone knows a way of a mutihomed server only
register one of the Nics on the DNS server.

Regards

Yes, your method below works for me just fine.

Set the "other" NIC to the desired DNS name and check the box for "use
this name".

Works for me -- I register my EXTERNAL NICs as (either) cable.LearnQuick.Com
or DSL.LearnQuick.Com (respectively.)
- I'd also like to ask if anyone knows a way of a mutihomed server only
register one of the Nics on the DNS server.

Yes, clear the check box on the other (unregistered) NIC.

In DNS manager, configure the DNS server to listen on only the internal interface. In the advanced properties of TCP/IP on the
external adapter, enabled the option to use the connection specific DNS suffix in DNS registration. Then in the connection
specific DNS suffix of the external adapter, add a DNS suffix for the other domain you wish to regster in. That should give you
behavior you are after. Netlogon though still may register the external adapter for the DNS server as a same as parent record
within your domain. The only way around that would be to disable dynamic registrations for the netlogon process.

So the netlogon.dns file cannot be controlled except by turning Dynamic DNS
off?

That is my problem with the external NIC appearing in DNS, it is a record
within netlogon.dns file, there is no way to exclude this NIC from the
generated netlogon.dns file?
