2-letter TOC prefixes--any kind of workaround?

I'm trying to add a two-letter prefix to the page numbers in an appendix
which then carry over to the photo-list-TOC (like "LF-3"). It seems that, in
general, WORD doesn't allow this. I'm wondering though if there's some way I
can use fields to trick it. For example, if I set up SEQ fields with names
of Area1 and Area2 and set each to be the letter that I want. So if I set up
"LF" as {SEQ AREA1\ALPHABETIC \R12 \*MERGEFORMAT}{SEQ AREA1\ALPHABETIC \R6
\*MERGEFORMAT} , then is there a way I can get the TOC to recognize BOTH
Area1 and Area2? -- in {TOC \h \z \c "Photo" \s "Area1" } ? I've tried
adding a second \s "Area2" and also then appending "Area2" in various forms
after "Area1" but none have worked. I'm hoping there's some punctuation I
can add between "Area1" and "Area2" where both will show up. I'm working
with WORD 2007 in files saved to be compatible with 2003.

Try
Format -> Page Number at the start of your appendix section. Be sure to
"include the chapter number" and make sure your chapter number lines up with
how you want your TOC to read.

Thanks, Angela. The prefixes I need to add are two or three alphabetic
characters that are abbreviations (such as OLF, CB, and AF) that designate
geographic areas and do not match the chapter number. I could try to fudge
something, but I still do not know how to get it to accept more than one
character. so it would look like: Photo 23...............OLF-17 The
appendix will have several sections, each its own geographic area, although I
could make them separate files if I had to.
