add a new line before Appendix in TOC

Hi,

I think i have asked the following question before but i was just unable to
find it again in the forum and i have lost the document that has this setting
set up already. I guess i now have to do it again.

What i would like to be able to do is to put an empty line between Chapters
and Appendixes in TOC.

For example, i have the following TOC

Chapter 1 Introduction......................................1
Chapter 2 Executive Summary............................2
....
Chapter N Implementation.................................n

Appendix A Graphical Images
....

As you may notice, there is a deliberate empty line there between Chapter N
and Appendix A.

At the moment, this is the field i have in the TOC

{ TOC \o "1-4" \n 4-4 \h \z }

What should i modify so that it would add an empty line before adding
Appendixes in TOC

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

You could create a separate TOC for the appendixes. The exact steps depend
on how you set up your document. Which style is being used for your
appendixes?

Thank Stefan for your reply.

I am using "style Heading 4 + centered" for the value of the "style for the
following paragraph".

Thank you in advance

You can easily create a TOC that inserts only Heading 4 text (without page
numbers):

{ TOC \o "4-4" \n "4-4" \h \z }

To insert the field delimiters, { }, press Ctrl+F9. Type the field code.
Press F9 to update. Use Alt+F9 to show/hide field codes in the document.

You should then edit your existing TOC so that it excludes Heading 4 items:

{ TOC \o "1-3" \h \z }

Thanks a lot, Stefan. It works now.

But if i may ask another question related to TOC. What switches do i need to
add if i like the chapters to be separated by an empty line space.

For example,

TOC

Chapter 1 Executive Summary
<--- empty line space
Chapter 2 Introduction to Database
2.1 What is Schema
....
<--- empty line
Chapter n Conclusion

As you may notice, there is an empty line space between Chapters but not for
sub-Chapters. Wonder if you could give me some help on this.

Thank you in advance
