2.1 speaker problems

I had such good luck with my last question, I thought I would try another.

The reason I had to perform the reinstall of XP Home was that my Klipsch
ProMedia, 2.1 speakers are not working right. I only hear sound from one
satellite and the subwoofer. Control Panel has no setting for 2.1 speakers,
and I have tried the other setting to no avail.

I have swapped out sound cards and speakers and the problem is the same
between them all. I know my hardware is good, so it must be a cionfiguration
problem.

Can someone help me please?

It sounds more like a speaker problem than a system problem, if one
speaker and the woofer works. If you can, connect the speakers to
another PC, maybe a friends to test them.

I thought that it might have been the speakers, even though they worked with
my MP3 player. I bought new ones, and the same problem exists. I tried the
old speakers on the wife's computer and they work fine. I have checked with
headphones and the the same problem. Only one channel.

I tried a new sopund card and that didn't work. I ran every diagnostic tool
I could find and the mother board seems to be fine.

In Control Panel, there is no setting for 2.1 speakers, only stereo desktop
speakers. I have tired 4.1, 5.1, etc., nothing works. It sounds as if
Windows is sending one of the channels through the subwoofer instead of the
satellite speaker.

thx

Check your speaker connections to each other. I had a similar problem
when I first connected my speakers including the woofer.

Don't I feel dumb! The subwoofer was pressed against the cabinet of my desk
and the pressure on thecabel . . ., well you understand.
