I just recently update my HD from 40 GB to 180 GB as the Master Drive. I formatted the new drive using NTFS from the CD the HD manufacture supplied, then loaded a Windows XP Home. The problem is that Windows XP is only reading the drive as 33,337 GB. I'm not sure what I did wrong

It should be reading it as 137 GB. The problem is the
motherboard. You can buy a controller card for the hard
drive.

You need WinXP SP1 to support 48bit LBA and Hard Disks >137GB.

Bios is a good guess for me too, But he had a 40 gb and
if he had a old BIOS the limit used to be 32 gb as I
remember.

either can't handle 48bit LBA then

the older bios had a 32gb limit, and the nwer bios, but not the latest
ones have a 137 gb limit. most motherboard manufacturers have bios
updates available to enable the 48 bit LBA, though...

You formatted as fat32! Should have been NTFS.
