170 mails from hotmail to OE every download

jw 1111

Hi, i posted this a few days ago in another group and was advised this is
the group to use:

i have a couple of hotmail accounts that i can operate from within OE.
it seems that one hotmail account keeps wanting to download a couple of
hundred emails into the inbox, but put them in the wrong hotmail account.
it >> keeps trying to do it again and again. i get this message box come
up:

Outlook Express could not download the requested message. It is likely
would anyone kindly advise on what best to do ? thanks.

Use IE or another browser to access that hotmail account, and delete/trash
the offending mail(s) directly off the server. Take care about trojans,
fake links and worms.

Many thanks to all. there are some 170 of my previous emails trying to come
in to my hotmail account in OE on every download. As they are old and valid
emails i dont wish to delete them, if at all possible.

i followed your instructions to allow cookies on hotmail.com and live.com
then restarted the pc but i'm sorry to say that it has made no difference.
its still downloading 170 previous emails into OE. from my hotmail account.

any further ideas please? thanks

john west

I am still having this trouble. waiting on every download for the same 170
messages to come in is slowing things up.

anybody have any further ideas please? thanks for any help.

Local File folders for the hotmail account are corupt, and suggest to that
there are mail to download that arent there
find the dbx files for the hotmail account and move them with OE closed,
they will be recreated next time OE opens
neccessary mail can then be imported from the dbx files

since as you say this usually indicates a problem on MSN's end. is there a
way to contact the relevant department and tell them please? would that be
worth doing?

i followed your instructions to allow cookies on hotmail.com and live.com

IOW, you didn't reference the messages downloading into the "wrong account"
in your most recent post.

thanks very much to you all. yes Robear you are right (and a very observant
chap..thanks ), i made a mistake about the downloads coming into the 'wrong'
account.
they keep coming in to the same account that 'they belong to' over and over
again. sorry that was an initial mistake on my part. [us novices have
such a hard time of it you know :( ...... sigh ]

am very grateful for all your kind efforts.
