I keep getting this error message whenever I try and install anything. I have
gone through the resolutions on the site nad none of them work.
When I go to reinstall the engine, there is no folder displaying
C:\Program Files\Installshield
I did find Isscript in a temp directory, ran it but it just says
"The windows installer serrvice could not be accessed. This can occur if you
are running in safe mode or if the windows installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance"
I then downloaded Windows Installer 3.1 v2 from the website, but still get
the same message.
I then checked to see if the files Idriver and Msiexec are registered but
couldnt find the files anywhere (even with hidden files opened).
Then tried to change the permissions but found nothing with the name
C:\Windows\Installer
There were no records of any msiexec on the tassk manager list.
that leaves me with reinstalling XP, which I have not done yet as I have
200GB that I would have to back up if I did so hoping there is a way of
getting round this without having to do that.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
