16 bit Windows Subsystem

I am trying ti install software for an Epson R300 photo
printer. During instillation i get the following message
during parts of the install, as a result all of the
software has not loaded. The message is as follows:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose "Close" to terminate the application.

I phoned Epson and they told me that I had a file
missing, is that correct? if so how can I obtain a copy
of this file.
