One of our XP-Pro systems was unable to join our NT 4.0
Domain until the 1394 network connection was enabled.
Anyone have any idea what on earth this has to do with
Domain Authenticaion?

Thanks!

It doesn't state as such, but in Network Connections it
just says "Bridge" on both the NIC icon and the 1394 icon.
Now I don't know if that means once you're in there you
can enable or disable Bridging...and nothing in Device
Manager will tell you if it's Bridged or not. Any thoughts?

Thanks again for your help.

A bridge would only be shown in Network Connections and would not be
reflected in device manager. If having the 1394 enabled is not causing any
problem, I see no harm in leaving it as is. I think you could delete the
bridge in Network connections, disable the 1394, and leave only the NIC
enabled.

(I have a hazy recollection a particular client's laptop that insisted on
rebridging connections in a somewhat similar situation, I don't remember
exactly why, but I think we disabled the 1394 in device manager to prevent
it, since she wasn't using any firewire devices and was annoyed at a tray
icon or something it was causing.)
