Have you checked out the help in the program for this issue? You can get to
the help file with Explorer--look for the yellow question mark icon in the
programs installation folder.

While you are there, Microsoft would be interested in seeing your errors.log
file, also from the installation folder.

Please mail it to:

(e-mail address removed)

with details about the error you are seeing, and particulars about your
installation --windows version information, (home, or pro?), etc.

Locate gcasDtServ.exe and double click. Add a shortcut gcasDtServ.exe to
your Desktop. Oddly when you double click the shortcut it doesn't start
MSAS but places an icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Double
click on that and MSAS starts.

Others have overcome Start problems in different ways but what I have
described works for me.

Hope this helps.

Thx Gerry......will try that....:)

But I was hoping to get some insight as to why and what is
the cause of this error??.....there must be some reason for it?

It used to run fine....all of a sudden...it don't?...I even
done a fresh reinstall and installed it on a bare
system...and still the same 101 error??

I know it still uses the GIANT engine....so the actual
Giant software is throwing up the same result.

Will try your fix.....but is that not kinda defeating the
purpose?......manually forcing the program to start...when
its supposed to auto load and protect ones system?

Many thx again for your suggestion...:)

"but is that not kinda defeating the purpose?"

Not really as it is a bug ( or bugs ). Jeff is collecting logs from
systems exhibiting the symptoms. The present solutions work for some
people but not others. Hopefully beta2 will be amended. In the meantime
if the programme is to be beta tested any workaround which enables
testing to be carried out has got to be the right way forward for now.

can you try the following:

1) unregister and delete gccollection.dll in the system32 directory
2) Delete gc*.* files in the system32 directory
3) Delete the Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware directory
4) Reinstall antispyware

Let me know if that works by sending e-mail to (e-mail address removed)
