100%CPU usage.

I have recently purchased a new Palm Tungsten E2 to replace an aging model E.
I cannot get it to Hotsync and when I try to remove the Palmone program (to
reload it as suggested by Palm)), the add/remove program in the control panel
freezes and I cannot remove it. The task manager indicates 100& CPU usage. I
have Windows XP running on a Dell with a 2 Gig processer.
I recently ran Spybot S&D and have removed 11 spyware programs in the recent
past because of high (30-70% CPU use), but I think that the problem lies in
the Palmone program. Any hints as to what is going on and what I can do about
it?

The task manager indicates 100% CPU usage.

So what's using the CPU?

Open the Task Manager...
Ctrl + Shift + Esc | Click the Processes tab |
Click on the CPU header twice to put the high number at the top

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Hi Wes
Now that is what I call a 'neat tip'
It puts the running processes at the top with system idle reading.
Thank you

You can click on the other headers also.

I usually use Image Name. Click it once to alphabetize the list. I always
use that one, it makes it easier to find things. ;-)

IMHO, Process Explorer can be very confusing to Joe Average with all of
those .dlls. ;-)

I agree, Wes. It does me! I mainly use the main page and the history
graph at the top. It is a pretty powerful app and has a rather steep
learning curve to master it all.

Process Explorer definitely has its uses.

BTW, Microsoft has aquired Winternals. Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell
have gone to work in Redmond.

Yeah, noticed that on the sysinternals website..........I suspect some or
all of their apps may be incorporated into Vista.
Heirloom, old and might want to get
the freebies while you can
