CPU running 100%

Here recently my CPU has bee running at 100 %
and remaining there for a long time. I looked in the
windows task manager, and it has about five di-
fferent image names running at 24000 thousand
or more,in the memory usage column. I was going
to remove some of the high memory users, but
I got a warning saying, terminating a process can
cause undesired results. I noticed my computer
has slowed down a lot when, the CPU is run-
ning at 100%. Image names are: iexplore.exe-----
sychost.exe---explorer.exe--- some names repeat.
Is there a safe way to terminate these names?
Thank You

When you are in task manager and looking at the process list click
twice on the CPU column header. That will sort the list into
descending order based on CPU usage. Make a list of the 4 or 5
processes that are using the most CPU time and post that information
back here.

As for the names you posted:
iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer.
explorer.exe is the Windows graphical shell - what you see on your
screen.
svchost.exe is a Windows component that normally is present multiple
times, as it is the "host" for a number of different services that are
part of Windows.

Good luck

Hi James
Are you sure you are not reading the 'system idle' at 99/100% or is it
reading 0%.
