100% CPU usage

I have a laptop that is constantly at a 100% CPU usage. Does anyone know if
this virus related or what could cause this behavior.

If it is Windows NT, 2000, or XP, bring up the task manager (right click on an empty space on the task bar), go to processes, and find which process is using the most cpu time
 
Coudl be related to the Sasser patch, did you install it lately? kb835732,
