100% CPU usage... Nothing Running...?

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I had to re-install V2i Protector on my Win 2000 Pro system
(because some part of it was apparently corrupted.)

Then, I rebooted, and attempted to launch V2i.

It took about fifteen minutes to indicate that it was
"ready."

At that point, I ran Task Manager and saw that my CPU usage
was 100%.

I closed V2i, and the usage remained the same.

I then rebooted again.

With nothing running (explicitly) the CPU usage quickly rose
to 100% with 431 threads and 35 processes running.

Why would the CPU usage be at max with no applications
running?

Thanks for any information on this,

D

You can use Task Manager|Processes tab to see what process is consuming the
cpu.

Hi Dave,

Please accept my thanks!

I simply had not known that was possible.

I renamed the offender (a wireless network scanning
configuration program that I did not need) but have not had
the chance to check on the current usage. I strongly suspect
that the problem is solved.

All the best,

D

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the feedback.
