10,000+ emails in inbox and unable to delete...

Hello,

I have an inbox with 10,000+ items most of which I would
like to remove. There seems to be a certain point in time
back past which I cannot delete the email. I can view it,
but when I attempt to delete it I get the
infamous "Messaging Interface has returned an unknown
error".

If anyone has run into this issue in the past and has a
solution, please let me know.

Does this happen for individual messages as well?
Clear the Deleted Items folder and try again. Otherwise run scanpst.exe and
then after the fixing process delete the messages by SHIFT+DELETE

Outlook store all it's data in PST file and the max size possible is 2 GB.
This error message happens when you are some where near this limit.
The only option will be to create a new personal folder (PST) file and make
it the default delivery location.
You can also try inbox repair tool , you may face data loss.
