The following error message is received when logging off
of XP, for all user accounts:

failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)

This only occurs when Diablo II has been installed. After
Diablo II is de-installed, the problem goes away.

Any suggestions?

Hi ztree,

Make sure you have administrator privileges when installing
that software, and make sure the error isn't being caused by
your antivirus software. Try disabling it temporarily to test.

Hello man i had the same problems until i found that the memory
requirements are very high for this game.i have 384 the lowest but win
xp use most of it so u need upgrade.it also can be seen when u install
the game.is sais that ur memory is low and there is a high possibility
to not run the game.cya
