Is this a problem that does not have a solution or maybe i did not explain
it correctly. probably the latter

Clearly your mail server is for some reason rejecting the username and
password you're supplying for the incoming server. Try using those same
credentials to log into the web interface for your mailbox, if there is one.
Do they work then?

I get the same message.

I am running outlook 2002 sp3 on vista.

When I want to check my email I click on send/receive mail - it always
promps me for my password, regardless of how many times I check the remember
the password box.

I enter the password then ok and get the following message - "Task
'pop3.comcast.net - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) :
'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password
in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server
responded: ²ERR user password must be specified'"

I then hit cancel all and select send/receive again and it works.
