0x800CCC92 error

I am trying to set up Microsoft Outlook 2003 up on my work computer in order
to retrieve my work email. Strange way to put it, but it's a strange
situation. I can access my work email on Internet Explorer just fine, but
when I try to access it on Outlook, I get the following error message:

Task 'mail.hfsdirect.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92): 'Your
e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in
your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server
responded: -ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.'

What is even stranger is even after I try to do this on Outlook, when I
check my email on the web it has a test message from Microsoft Outlook.

Make sure during the setup you type in the corect username and password.
Remember your username is the first part of your email address.

Not necessarily. Some ISPs (mine, for instance) require a full email
address.

That's because Outlook sends a message as part of testing the account, and
is obviously able to send a message. It's receiving that's the problem.
