0x000A stop error during fresh install, IRQL error

Im installing XP SP2 from a legit holographic disc onto a brand new
self-build system described below:

Athlon64 3800+
ASUS M2V Motherboard
Maxtor 250GB SATA
Corsair 1GB comprising 2x matched 512mb modules
Sapphire Radeon X1300 PCI-EX 256MB
LG DVD RAM, Sony DVDROM
Floppy

It's giving me serious problems during windows setup. It boots fine
onto the CD and loads the setup screen, formats the hard disk, and then
begins to copy files.

At about 60%, it'll stop and say that it's unable to copy KS.SYS. I've
done it several times now and it ALWAYS stops on the same file. If i
skip this file, it'll copy some more fine, then always keep stopping on
the same files; modem.sys, shell32.dll, msgina.dll etc etc.

These are pretty essential files, i realise that, but i'd be happy to
replace them myself through the recovery console or something after
setup if needs be. However, it doesnt get that far - after skipping a
few more files, it'll then hang to a blue screen, displaying the
0x0000A error, without mentioning any faulty drivers - simply saying
IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL, then stating some other codes. From the MS
KB i've found that the codes say that the error occured while trying to
READ a memory location for IRQL 2, but this means very little to me.

The uniformity of this error seems very strange to me - if it was a
hardware error like MS seem to say, i dont believe it would always hang
on the same file. I've tried 2 different, brand new, SP2 windows xp
discs, and both give the same error.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks

If your drive controller is not natively supported then you'll want to boot
the Windows XP CD-Rom. Then *F6* very early and very important (at setup is
inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller detection,
and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to
insert the manufacturer supplied Windows XP driver for your drive controller
in drive "A"
