xxcopy question

I have a xxcopy question. When I do a xxcopy /clone to a usb drive
sometimes I get only a partial clone. In one folder there was a full 1
gig difference. It seemed to quit at the midpoint of the subfolders
but the files in the main folder are there.
I have used it at home for years and love it but this was on a server
(yes I got them to buy a lic.) running sbs 2003. any ideas? maybe the
usb drive?
