xxcopy-clone work on XP with NTFS?

I have a need to copy my complete XP HOME system disk and have it bootable on another HD. I
realize this may cause activation but that should not be a problem. I have often used XXCOPY clone
command with both 98SE and NT and it worked fine but this time I need to clone XP home in NTFS
format. Will XXcopy clone work with XP home? Suggestions on how to go about formatting the new
partittion NTFS. Any help appreciated. Tanks

Of course xxcopy.exe will work, same as xcopy.exe.
However, the real issue is that many of your system
files are locked while windows is up and running. To
perform the copy process successfully you must run
it while Windows is down. Here are a couple of
methods:
- Install both the source and the target disk as secondary
disks in some other WinXP/2000 PC, or
- Boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD
(www.bootdisk.com).

Just install the new drive and then enter diskmgmt.msc in the Start => Run
box and partition and format it as an NTFS drive.

Then use XXCopy to clone the system to that drive.

XXCopy is not imaging software that also copies the file system it just
copies the files like a backup program.

To copy your files over you will need to use switches, like the /H switches
to copy hidden and system files.

I'm running WinXP Pro and could not find XXCOPY but did find XCOPY.

This won't copy locked system files!

xxcopy.exe is a third-party tool that can be downloaded
from any number of sites.

Thank you for the response. XXcopy is a third parity copy utility that has a clone command. As I
said it normally work great on 98, 98SE, NT that I know of.
