XP SP1 Installation Error

Santa

I was installing SP1(Service Pack 1) on Win XP Pro and it came up saying
"C:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer is open or in use by another
program. Please close this program and try again" when it was "taking
inventory". It then gave me a choice of what to do. I could either click
retry or cancel. I tried retry and it kept coming up with the same thing. So
then I used task manager to end all processes except system critical ones. I
tried again and it still didnt work. I would like some help in this please.

Thank you and God Bless.

I'll offer two suggestions:
1. Don't waste time installing SP1. Install SP2 to get your XP up to date
and maintainable. Important updates from Windows Update are not available to
you unless you have SP2 installed.
2. Post your Windows XP questions in an appropriate Windows group instead of
in this .NET programming group.

To find the group you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...spx?guid=1080912A-26C5-7040-AFDD-2224A4FEB3EA

Select your language from the Tree View on the left, then scroll down to
Windows. In the Windows category, open Windows XP and find an applicable
group there.
