Installation error on xp 64 bit: service failed to start

I am trying to install Windows Defender on my machine with XP 64 bit and I
keep getting this error message during the installation:

Service "Windows Defender (WinDefend) failed to start. Verify that you have
sufficient privilege to start system services.

Retry Cancel

If I click Retry button, it keeps giving me the above error; if I click
Cancel, the installation will roll back.

The account I use to log into my computer is in Administrator group, so I
should have all privilege to start services.
