Xp search function not working

Recently my search function stopped working. If i hit start and then search
my taskbar and desktop icons disappear and then seem to reload, no search
dialog box appears. I have re installed srcasst inf to no avail as well as
other things suggested in the newsgroup. One thing that did work was to
download the powertoy "Tweak UI" and i changed search to classic view and
suddenly it works, un check and it no search again. I have run all anti virus
and spyware scans and nothing has come up. Can anyone think of another
solution to the problem
