Search function not working

When I invoke the search function, the only thing that appears is the search
window with the dog search companion. But no search functions or options. No
options to search. I think it is broken. How might I repair Search? Any
suggestions?

Hi,

See if these commands help, from Start-Run:

regsvr32 /i %systemroot%\srchasst\srchui.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

If this does not help, follow this repair method:

1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator
permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This
reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.

When you're prompted for the system files, insert your Windows XP CD, or
point to Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder (if you've applied SP1 or SP2
separately) which-ever is the latest.

Try Agent Ransack. Much faster than "Search." Free, too.
