VBScript and Search Companion errors

Now when I try to open/execute the script it says, "Can't find script engine
"VBScript" for script "C:\...useraccfix.vbs."

I can't search for it because of another problem. The Search Window opens
with the toolbars and two panes, left the blue pane where the searching
description would be(the Search Companion), and right; where the results
should be. However, on the left pane only the Help Dog pops-up, nothing
else. Not even a Title for the window. Right-clicking's only option is
"Close Toolbar" and it just closes the left pane, Search Companion.

So two problems here,
1. No "VBScript"
2. No "Search"

VBS: Try the reg file from line 305:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

For Search: The file that is missing, or corrupt, is one of two. BAR.XSL or
BALLOON.XSL (and/or other files in the same folder), depending on your
search preferences. These files are both normally located in the
Windows\srchasst\mui\0409 folder on your hard drive. These files may be
locally cached in the Temporary Internet Files, so this may explain why some
users have this problem "intermittently".

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Fix: Open Explorer and go to the Windows\Inf folder. Locate the srchasst.inf
file. Right click it and select Install. You'll need your XP CD or the files
from the I386 folder.

The Windows\Inf folder is a hidden folder. You may need to adjust your
Windows Explorer options to show hidden files and folders. You can also
click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\Inf to open directly to the Inf
folder.

More information and troubleshooting options here:

Note: For many resetting IE default under Programs helps as well.

Good luck and keep us posted.

by using 'Start' button followed by clicking 'Run'. It still did not work.
I used a script to fix extensions already.

Here is the script of what i want to use:
Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Dim htacommand
htacommand = "%windir%\system32\mshta.exe " & chr(34) & "%1" & chr(34) & " %*"
On Error resume Next
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\.hta\", "htafile", "REG_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\.hta\PerceivedType", "text", "REG_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\.hta\Content Type", "application/hta", "REG_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\htafile\", "HTML Application", "REG_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\htafile\EditFlags", "1048576", "REG_DWORD"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\htafile\DefaultIcon\",
"%windir%\system32\mshta.exe,1", "REG_EXPAND_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCR\htafile\Shell\Open\Command\", htacommand,
"REG_EXPAND_SZ"
Wshshell.RUN ("regsvr32.exe mshtml.dll -i -s")
'Wshshell.RUN ("regsvr32.exe shdocvw.dll -i -s")
Wshshell.RUN ("regsvr32.exe jscript.dll -s")
MsgUser = Msgbox ("Fixed the HTA settings.", 4160, "User accounts applet fix
for Windows XP")
Set WshShell = Nothing

That supposedly fixes the problem that I have with my User accounts.

Sorry this didn't help, but there is a lot of cool things on the website.

I had BAR and BALLOON both 34KB modified 8/4/2004.

Start/Run and regsvr32 urlmon.dll, suceeded.

Installed the srchasst.inf, and Search Companion still bad. And VBScript
still comes up.

Thanks though.

Don't know, don't care. Just want my problem solved. Thought a new post
would bring the topic to the top to the forum.

Nope, this isn't a forum, it is a newsgroup residing on a news server.
Bump has no meaning so all we see is this "bump" message. And you didn't
quote any of the question, so this posting isn't going to do much for
answering your original question either.

The question is above and has not changed.

Bear two things in mind:

1. What you see as "above" is based on the order in which you have your
messages displayed. Not all of us display messages in the same order you do,
so the word "above" is generally not meaningful.

2. Many of us no longer display messages at all after they have been read
before. Having already-seen messages in the list clutter sup the list, and
makes it take much longer to go through it. So if you don't quote adequately
to show us what is being referred to, for many, if not most, of us, your
message is meaningless. Once again, considering this, there is no "above."

What a nice polite person you are. So much so that you are about to be
killfiled. I have neither the time for nor the interest in your messages.

Goodbye.
