Search function not working -

when i'm in explore and click on the search icon (mag glass), the little
doggy comes up and looks at me, but there are now no fields for me to fill in
to do a search. just the blank blue area.

*sigh* what could i have done?

thanks for responding. i did this but it didn't correct my problem. i also
tried restarting after doing this (both times i got the pop up that it
'succeeded'), and i still didn't correct my problem.

any other options?

regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 %Windir%\srchasst\srchui.dll

Reinstalling the Search companion

1. Login as administrator
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install.

This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses. When you're prompted for the system files, insert your Windows XP CD, or point to Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder (if you've applied SP1 or SP2 separately) where the system files are located.

ok, found the msgr3en.dll file. then it wanted the nls302en.lex file.
couldn't find it.

any ideas?

ok, that worked, now it wants the 'rover.acs file. can't find it, don't have
the CD. the pop-up said -

'setup cannot copy the file rover.acs. ensure that the location . . .'

i'm sorry to be such a pain, but i feel like you're getting me there . . .

don't have the CD.

Copy it from another XP system and place it in C:\windows\srchasst\chars
