XP problem...please help

II have been running XP for over a year and now when I start up I get an error message saying: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME......TECH INFO: Stop 0x000000ED (0x8179DE30, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I get the same message in safe mode and if I start up from the CD......any help would be greatly appreciated!
