UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Hello

When I boot up a XP Home edition PC you see usual XP startup with progress
bar then goes to a blue screen with:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

STOP : 0x000000ED (0x80E52C00, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Angus

Hi Angus,

Download your Hard Drive's Manufacturer's Diagnostics Tools for your Hard Drive. Your Hard Drive may be failing. You need to test your Hard Drive thru DOS not Windows.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Hi I do not see if this was the solution----but this is (almost) exactly what's up with my Dell Inspirion1150 My stop msg reads
STOP: 0x000000ED (0x82F46E30, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x0000000)

I can bring the thing up to the advanced start sreen but as soon as I choose
someting it goes right back to the blue error screen. Even askinf it to
start in advanced with networking as Dell says to download a rash Tool" I
can not get beyond the blue screen.......
What I believe lead to this was...My daughter tried to load her SIMS game
and she says it went for about 10 minutes and it stopped and she waited like
20 more min. and she had to go and decided to push the on/off button to shut
down the computer as it froze. Now I can't get beyond the blue screen---did
we kill it?
ANy ideas anyone??

the computer's drive that it may take it? and what might happen to anything
