Unmountable_Boot_Volume

When my LT starts/restarts I receive this message:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
STOP: 0X000000ED
(0X83392900, 0XC000009C, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

My drive isn't reading restore cd at all. Sometimes you hear it run but then
nothing.
I've done F8 and did everything in that category ... safe mode, command
prompt, last known good configuration... still nothing.
It just restarts over and over If I don't select something in the F8 category.

Also I haven't done anything different since I had it but I noticed that my
drive pops open to the slighest touch. Sometimes when I set it down it pops
open. I know I probably need a new cdrom drive but would that really give me
that error message?

Thanks

You run run the hard drive manufacturers test utility but it sounds like you
need a new hard drive. You may be able to access and recover the data on the
dive by placing the drive in an external cradle and connecting to a working
computer.

0x000000ED: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
The kernel mode I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it
failed. This error also might occur during an upgrade to Win XP on
systems that use higher throughput ATA disks or controllers with
incorrect cabling. In some cases, your system might appear to work
normally after you restart.

So as well, your CD drive doesn't work? That is a completely separate
problem.

I've done F8 and did everything in that category ... safe mode, command

The error message probably isn't coming from the CD drive.

What is your warranty situation on this system? How long have you had it?
