I'm in a bit of a pickle, and I don't know what has happened to my p
but when I boot up it gets as far as the xp startup screen with th
loading bar underneath and then I get the dreaded 'blue screen'. On th
top of this blue error screen are the words:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.

Underneath this is the usual 'if this is the first time you have see
this screen etc...etc...'. Then underneath this is the 'technica
jargen' which reads:

*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x80ECA408, 0xC000009C,
0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I've absolutely no idea what this means or what might have caused this
If there's anybody who does please let me know. Or direct me to someon
who might know. Cheers! :

I had this, i was able to fix it using my Windows XP install CD recovery
console. I did chkdsk /r (or chkdsk /p, can't quite remember!) which did the
trick.
You won't be able to do this with an OEM 'recovery disc', you'll need an
actual bootable Windows CD.
