XP Media Player does not recognise JPG photos in MyPictures

I've been trying to look at / copy to DVD some .jpg pictures (taken w/
digital camera ) using the Media Center which comes with this version of
Windows XP that I have. While I have had no dificulty in transferring the
video files (.mvi) the Media Center refuses to recognise any of the pictures
I have in the My Pictures file. While the bulk of the pictures are .jpg, I
notice that it is not not recognising any of the files and is saying that
every subfolder in My Pictures is also empty. (no pictures were found) This
is regardless of source, also.

I'd appreciate any help you can give.
