xp (english os) can I read chinese files

xp (english version os), with GIME loaded, how can I read a chinese
attachment files or is that not possible at all. Pls advice, many thanks

I depends on the attachment type or the program that opens it more
correctly!
Generally yes, I have a UK English XP system and open word docs etc in
Japanese with out issue. you may need to download a font or manual select
the encoding used but this is not an issue.

What are the attachments, word? if so what version of word do you have? more
information is needed if you are having problems, error message etc
